Client: Mojo Hotel
Category: Hospitality; Retail
Scope: From Concept to Completion – 80 rooms
It took two years to totally transform a concrete shell into a funky, welcoming yotel (youth hotel) that has enlivened the streets of Sea Point. The challenge was to create inviting, functional en-suite rooms out of the smallest or tallest of spaces with exposed concrete ceilings and odd beams in the way, on a very tight budget. It had to appeal to hardy group travellers, families, students & those going solo.
It’s a hybrid of affordable crash pads, studios and self-catering apartments.
The client wanted all furniture to be modular and moveable so rooms could be flipped into apartments, or dorm rooms at a later stage. The vibe is Afro-chic meets Miami mix-up – urban, fresh & funky. We got clever dreaming up unique storage ideas & furniture that could take a beating; look stylish; and made from economical materials.
Jade & Ginja collaborated with Indigo Fusion on the design of the reception area.
