Scope of works: Turn-key Internal Remodel
Our clients living in the UK, are a couple with two young girls, who bought a timber home on the coast as their Summer holiday house. All of our designs, selections and communications were handled digitally, with fabric and tiling samples being sent to London for final selection.
Our challenge was to transform a dark pine “ski lodge” into an inviting & relaxed family home, with durable finishes and furnishings, able to stand up to Air B’nB rentals.
Our style inspiration was bright & breezy Cape Cod beach houses.
Existing floors, lighting & electrical, fireplace & finishes were stripped out to reveal the bare bones of the property.
Key to the success of the new design was reworking the kitchen layout to maximise storage & functionality and differentiate the living space from being integrated with the old kitchen. We created a built-out focal point chimney breast to house the new fireplace and TV – and hide electrical conduits.
To give the perception of a larger more open space, we laid new hardwood floors that continued throughout the ground floor and painted all the timber in a soothing light grey.
The house only had one light point in each area, which made the house dark. We drew up a new lighting plan with modern minimalist fittings which added both enhanced functionality and ambience to highlight key finishes.
